Because the lifts are within walking distance, the day begins at the front door. Skis are gathered, gloves are found, and everyone disappears into the cold. The home becomes most itself on the return, when boots come off, the fire is lit, and the view of snow is enjoyed from the other side of the glass.
We modernized the ski condominium without removing the ease and familiarity that make a mountain home restorative. Color became an emotional map. Forest green gathers people around the hearth. Bordeaux and powder blue make breakfast feel brighter. Each room carries its own weather, yet the house remains coherent as people move through it.
There is room here for the practical rituals of winter: wet gear, early coffee, children drifting between rooms, friends arriving, and dinners that begin because no one wants to go back outside. Contemporary pieces introduce clarity, but comfort remains the governing idea.
